In the United States pets are being re-homed, relinquished and euthanized at massive rates, but the number one reason animals are relinquished to SHELTERS and RESCUES is not because there are not enough homes for them, it is due to BEHAVIOR ISSUES. So rather than focus on the problem of PET OVERPOPULATION and mass spay and neutering to solve mass killings in our country, we are focused on the problem of RELINQUISHMENT, and helping animals stay in their homes by empowering people with knowledge tools to save lives.
There is so much confusion in the dog training world with the myth that every dog is different so we need to change our training program for every dog. This is why there is so much confusion on the part of the pet owner to understand how to help their animal is because every person or Dog Trainer will say something different, and this does not help dogs, it actually hurts them by causing more confusion.
This is why we are on a mission to teach owners our "Life Changing Dog Training™" Program, "The Good News for All Creatures" so that people will have the tools to help their dogs for the rest of their life. And to connect people with resources and teach pet owners how to use ALL TRAINING TOOLS available to them. This same process can also be used by people wanting to get into the animal industry as they will have the skills necessary to help change lives, hence the name of the program.
We also developed the Communicative Leashwork Process® which uses the slip lead as a primary communication tool to begin with a special type of pressure/release training and a method called which will open up communication lines between humans and dog. This training works for every dog, with any behavior issue, even dogs with disabilities. We would love to show you how we to change not only dogs lives but the humans lives too!
Growing up I always felt a strong connection to animals, helping injured birds, dogs, cats, goats, possums, you name it I tried to save it. When I began my journey working with animals over 25 years ago, volunteering in the animal welfare industry I wanted to understand our systems set up for animals, what was working and what was not working. I got my degree in Sociology, began studying animals in society in 2000, because I was interested in how to get people to work together to help more animals. Which can be challenging, not because of the animals, but because of the humans. Mostly because everyone has their own ideas about the best way to help animals.
I started out volunteering in Animal Rescue, working with shelters and rescue groups and organization the volunteers for the first Animal Shelter in Pottawattamie County at the time. While conducting an research project I organized a grass roots effort with the rescues in Southwest Iowa to get a Humane Society built in our city and the group of individuals that would go on to get this accomplished in our city, Council Bluffs, Iowa. And after a decade it finally came to fruition with the city and county working with the non-profit Midlands Humane Society.
After years in the human social work industry I decided to start a Pet Sitting Business in 2007 and successfully did this full time with a team of trainers. Until I decided I wanted to help animals and humans on a larger level. So I started my Dog Training Business in 2014 quickly gaining Best in Omaha status every year we were offering training services. Again with a team of Trainers and helping so thousands of animals and humans. During this time I also started an "Apprentice Program" to help more people get into the industry to help animals since this had not been offered in our area in the past.
My focus for the past 9 years has been on our canine companions and how to reduce the number of dogs being killed at massive rates in our country. I take a unique relationship based and balanced approach in training for humans and their dogs with a process I developed based on the work of the greats in the dog training and horse training world. For those that are interested it is called Life Changing Dog Training™ and the Communicative Leashwork Process® which is a humane pressure/release style of training to change a dogs life. Taking into account how your animal's genetics, physical health, diet, living environment, human energy and actions affects your pet's behavior, feelings, mental and emotional state of mind. Yes I believe animal's have feelings too, they are not humans, each species has their own genetic make up that makes them special, but I believe we all share the same feelings.
The style of training is called "DOGMANSHIP" based on "HORSEMANSHIP," which is a gentle, relationship based training philosophy that considers the animal’s natural instincts and emotions in order to gain the animal's trust, submission and cooperation that builds a foundation for a calm state of mind for your pets I take pride in offering the most humane, effective and always the least invasive, minimally aversive (LIMA) training techniques. My goal is to keep animals healthy, happy and in their homes, while strengthening the relationship between you and your pets so that you may both live a longer, happier, more peaceful life together!
I have worked with thousands of animals and human clients over the years, both personally and professionally and no matter what your needs are, I can help you help more animals. I have worked with hundreds of businesses and organizations, as well as individual pet owners. We work as at team to figure out how we can help more animals by working together! I love nothing more than sharing my knowledge with others. Thank you for reading about me, I am looking forward to helping you and your animals!
